European Reference Centre for Mastocytosis (ECNM)
ECNM is a non-profit initiative of clinicians and scientists devoted to improve recognition, diagnosis and therapy for patients with mastocytosis.
In order to provide the best information Refererence Centers and Centers of Excellence were established. The Reference Center for Mastocytosis at the Institute of Pathology in Ansbach, Germany, has been established in February 2007 and is specialized for morphological recognition of mastocytosis, subtyping of the disease and separation from non-mast cell hematological disorders.
Prof. H.-P. Horny, M.D., is hematopathologist, member of the ECNM and responsible for the diagnostic work at the Reference Center in Ansbach.
Routine work-up for:
1. Diagnosis and subtyping of mastocytosis in bone marrow, skin and mucosa of the GI tract, and2. Investigation of bone marrow trephine biopsy specimens and bone marrow smears in general hematopathology using immunohistochemistry.
